Description
General aims Students will be able to explain the phenomenon. They will acquire the basic English vocabulary connected with the topic (the basics principles and types of light reflection). Students will develop positive learning habits such as organisational and problem-solving skills. Linguistic aims Students will be able to: -Listen to the English audio passages with ease -reflect on their listening experience and share it with their peers -get the main ideas -comprehend the topic correctly -translate words connected with the topic (The basics principles and types of light reflection and light absorption) from English into their mother tongue. Subject specific aims Students will be able to: -explain the phenomenon Target groups age: Students from high school 16-18+ years old. Level of competence in English (CEFR) B1+/B2 Time required to use the resource with the students: 1or 2 hours •How to use it Before watching the video the teacher tells students the topic of the video (the basics principles and types of light reflection and light absorption). Then s/he invites them to work in pairs and write down the words/expressions/key vocabulary they think will come up in the video. S/he tells them to compare their words with another partner and add to their list. Then s/he will ask all groups to collect all their words finalize a common list of words related to the topic. Students will watch the video and share 2(3)things that impressed them about what they have watched. In pairs, the teacher provides them with TRUE/FALSE statements. Students check their answers in pairs and in plenary and watch the video again if there are any problems. Students go through their initial word lists again, underline the words they have heard in the video and share their findings in pairs and in plenary; the teacher checks understanding and asks students to provide their mother tongue version of the words. Students share with a partner three new things they have learnt from the video. Follow up: Students are asked to find their own resources on the topic and share them with their peers next class they meet. Students who have poor knowledge of English can have problems with understanding the content.
