Description of the video lesson
Students learn about the greenhouse effect:
They see what greenhouse gases are and observe the way in which greenhouse gases trap heat in the Earth’s atmosphere, causing the Earth to warm up.

Basic English vocabulary and grammar.

Pre-requisites
Students should have basic English vocabulary.
They should have some knowledge of the carbon cycle and the various sources of greenhouse gases.

Language Skills: Listening, watching, speaking
Grammar: Present simple tense Vocabulary:
Nouns: fossil fuel, carbon, carbon dioxide, greenhouse gas, Earth, atmosphere, sea levels, oxygen, blanket, climate, weather, balance.
Verbs: produce, trap, rise, react with, trigger

The core script should illustrate language, screen time, setting and learning environment and labels or simulations.

Subject aims
Students learn about the greenhouse effect.
They should understand the basic premise of 'greenhouse' as a mechanism for trapping heat.
They should be able to describe the way in which greenhouse gases trap heat in the Earth’s atmosphere, causing the Earth to warm up.
They should understand the difference between weather and climate.

Students' Difficulties
Students may not understand the difference between weather and climate and may have only vague ideas of the causes of climate change.

Students' Skills
Students will be able to link various biological processes and describe how these are interlinked to have potential short-term and long-term effects on weather and climate.
