Description
General aims:
Student will have basic knowledge about percentages and will be able to solve problems involving the calculation of percentages. For example, of measures, and such as 15% of 300. One will know basic vocabulary in English connected with percentages. Student will develop positive learning habits such as organisational and problem-solving skills.

Target group age:
Students from primary school (12-13 years old), before using the resource they need to know and understand the definition of percent, be able to do basic operation with fractions and decimals. What is more, this quiz can be used by anyone who wants to do mathematical operations with percents, also by grade teachers who wants to teach percentage using English.

Time required to use the resource with the students:
The teacher can use the resource with the students for one or two lessons.

How to use it
Before using the quiz during one’s classes, the students should be able to do basic operation with fractions and decimals.
During lessons the teacher should ask the student in English:
“What is the percent?”, “Do you know the symbol of the percent?”
“What does mean 0%?”,“What does mean 100%?”, “How to change fraction into decimal?”, “How to change percent into fraction?”, , “How to change percent into decimal?” “How to calculate fraction of quantity?”,“How to calculate 50% of quantity?”,
The students give the answers with the examples. The teacher should give them a feedback and show students more examples on the black table. For example, the teacher can asks students to work in pairs and rewrite 15% as a fraction and a decimals, and calculate 15% of 30. The teacher highlights some new words for students in English and students should find the translation these words into the mother tongue and write down the new words in English in the notebook with the right translation in their own words. The teacher can asks students to remember words in English like: convert, fraction, improper fraction, decimal.
The teacher asks students to familiarise with the web site and quiz. There are six levels of quiz, visualiser, description, help and more resources.
Students should practice themselves in pairs. The teacher checks the answers and gives feedback.
Possible difficulties for the students
Students who have poor knowledge of English can have problems with understanding the content. Students who has problems doing basic operations with decimals can face difficulties in solving math problems with percentages.

Comments
The resource provides interesting self-directed learning, it can be used by teachers and students as well. The strength of the quiz is a rich content, visuals, and a simple sentence structure. It presents 6 levels of exercises . What is more, the visualiser presented in the quiz helps to picture in student’s mind what a percentage looks like. This page is designed for teachers to use as a visual aid supporting the understanding of percentages. Pupils can practice the skills of mentally calculating percentages by doing the online, self-marking exercise. In my opinion this quiz is scientifically reliable and can be recommended to students and teachers, it is intuitive and usable. A layout is focused on ease of use, and ease of reading. The quiz can be attractive for teenagers. Consistent design allows the user to focus on the message. The resource could be more visually appealing to students and provide answers to exercises without logging in.
