General aims -What do we know about proteins – chemical compounds in food? -Show how the proteins are important for human’s body in every age, and in every kind of diet -Balance is important in every aspect of our lives Linguistic aims -use proper grammar structures -learn and use a specific vocabulary - correct pronunciation Subject specific aims -Presenting briefly groups of proteins - Explain what the proteins are - Give examples how to provide proteins for our bodies -Point healthy diet for everyone - Show what proteins mean to different group of people - High protein food obsession -Point how important is to find the balance in our diet - A few words about supplements Target group age 18-19 Level of competence in English (CEFR) C1 Time required to use the resource with the students 31 minutes How to use it This podcast can be used as a way to present the topic: Proteins – chemical compounds in food, then when it is necessary teacher can explain new words, or prepare a list of new words before listening. Teacher can prepare a list of questions about proteins. It will be a way of checking if students understand the audio. So students are split into small groups and they can work together to find out the answers. In these groups students will have time to speak out their ideas. They can discuss if they are right or wrong, so it will be a good way that everyone will be able to say something. After that, a leader/ a speaker of each group can present their answers. Each group can compare the answers. Then a teacher can summarise the team work, This podcast can be also used as an additional material for the topic, it can be used as a conclusion of the lesson, this podcast answers what they are and where they are ( in what kind of food) and also this podcast can be a way to start a discussion about diets, how dangerous they can be. This audio gives also a chance of speaking about different diets, it focuses on healthy balanced diets, and shows different aspects of healthy diet which is like a mania which pushes people into dangerous path. This audio is quite long and it is a real material, the language is fluent, speaker talks very fast. Possible difficulties for the students - lack of vocabulary, - a lot of new names - the pronunciation of new words - too long audio - too much information
