Students will be able to explain what photosynthesis is, its stages and products. They will acquire the basic English vocabulary connected with the topic (photosynthesis). Students will develop positive learning habits such as organisational and problem-solving skills. Linguistic aims Students will be able to: - read English texts with ease - reflect on their reading experience and share it with their peers - get the main ideas from a text - comprehend the topic correctly - translate words connected with the topic (photosynthesis) from English into their mother tongue. Subject specific aims Students will be able to: - explain what photosynthesis is, its stages and products Target groups age: Students from high school 16-18+ years old. What is more, this web site can be used by anyone who wants to do extend knowledge about photosynthesis. Level of competence in English (CEFR) B1+/B2 Time required to use the resource with the students: The material can be covered in one class. How to use it The teacher will set the class into five groups and allocate each group one paragraph: definition, equation, the light reactions, Calvin cycle and products. Students read and take notes on the asigned issues. They have to present the notes to the rest of the class and use the photos provided by the site to explain the process (the photos can be magnified). A class discussion may follow with contributions to the topic from all students. Students can take the automated test on the site. The teacher highlights some new words for students in English and students should find the translation these words into the mother tongue and write down the new words in English in the notebook with the right translation. Possible difficulties for the students Students who have poor knowledge of English can have problems with understanding the content.
