Description
General aims
Students will be able to explain the phenomenon and talk about how rainbows are formed. They will acquire the basic English vocabulary connected with the topic (rainbows). Students will develop positive learning habits such as organisational and problem-solving skills.

- Listen to the English passages with ease
- reflect on their listening experience and share it with their peers
- get the main ideas from a listening passage
- comprehend the topic correctly
- translate words connected with the topic from English into their mother tongue.

Time required to use the resource with the students: 30 minutes
• How to use it
Teachers asks students to watch the video and while watching the video to take notes on the following topics: what is a rainbow, size and shape, colours (acronym), how a rainbow is created and how to create a rainbow indoors (explanations). A writing template can be provided to facilitate the note-taking activity and scaffold the learning of the students who are least able. Teacher set students in pairs and students exchange their notes with a colleague and peer assess the work to deepen their understanding. Class discussion on rainbows follows.
Possible difficulties for the students
Students who have poor knowledge of English can have problems with understanding the content.
