Students will be tasked with verifying an existing theory, they will be asked to analyse, summarise the material and present it shortly. They will develop the following skills: -intellectual skills including organization and planning; -personal skills: time management, responsibility, discipline, self-confidence.
The general aim of this lesson is to deepen students’ knowledge in physical properties of metals and non-metals. Linguistic aims of the language will be included: grammar, vocabulary, spelling. By the end of the lesson, students will be better able to understand and use the present simple and present simple passive. Besides, this lesson aims at helping students to develop listening and writing skills as well as the ability to comment the topic and express their opinion.
This task is aimed at students of 16-17 years old.
Level of competence in English (CEFR): B2.
Time required to complete the task is 35-45 minutes.
How to use it: at the beginning students watch the 1st video (introduction) and make notes, later they watch the 2nd video making notes as well as focusing on the vocabulary and the information shown.
Once videos are watched and notes are made every student will write the summary of the presented information and tell to the class.
Teacher may help students with grammar or vocabulary issues.
Students will expand their knowledge on physical properties of metals and non-metals, topic related vocabulary as well as writing and speaking skills on the given topic. Pedagogical values: self-directed learning, language development across the curriculum, contextualization.
