The material can be divided into 3-4 parts. This way the teacher can use the resource with the students or the students can use it for self-study.

How to use it:
The material can be used a s an introduction to the topic of “Hydrocarbons – comparison of alkanes, alkenes & alkynes”. Students can watch it before the class and then they can practice the knowledge in class. After watching the videos and reading the text, there is an interactive quiz, which can be done to make sure they have grasped the most important concepts of the topic.

Possible difficulties for the students
The level of English might be quite challenging for some students as the language used in the resource contains a lot of new vocabulary specific for the subject.

The video has been produced by Khan Academy, which is a reliable source specialising in providing high-quality content. Its main strength is the clear presentation of the material and scientific reliability. Watching the video gives students an opportunity to learn the basics of the chemical composition of hydrocarbons. However, the video does not have any visual aids as you can only hear the voice and see very simple drawings on the screen, which some students might find not interesting enough. The video will definitely be suitable for self-directed learning and will allow students to learn at their own pace. They can also comment and ask questions in the forum below the video.
